Restorative Resources
Brown Girl Wellness
Joy Collective
Welcome to the heart of Brown Girl Wellness Joy Collective—a living library of rest, healing, movement, joy, and connection, curated for women. Every resource here is an invitation to reclaim your time, nourish your spirit, and join a community where rest is a revolutionary act.
Our Goals
At Brown Girl Wellness Joy Collective, we are committed to:
-
Reclaiming Rest: Affirming that rest is a birthright, not a luxury, and centering rest as a critical practice of healing and resistance.
-
Uplifting Ancestral Wisdom: Honoring the traditions and healing practices of African American and Caribbean women, especially those rooted in community, nature, and storytelling.
-
Building Joyful Community: Creating warm, welcoming spaces—online and in person—where connection, celebration, and collective care thrive.
-
Supporting Radical Self-Care: Providing tools, experiences, and resources that help our members prioritize their wellness and nurture their bodies, minds, and spirits without apology.
-
Amplifying Women’s Voices: Spotlighting music, art, prayer, and healing practices by women of color, with a focus on lifting each other up and sharing our stories.
-
Cultivating Liberation: Encouraging every member to resist burnout culture and embrace ease, knowing that our wellness ripples out to our families and communities.
The BGW Rest Manifesto
Rest is our birthright.
We reject the lie that our worth is measured by our productivity.
We honor our ancestors by reclaiming what was always ours: deep rest, radical joy, and unapologetic self-care.
We believe:
-
Rest is resistance. When we pause, we disrupt the systems that profit from our exhaustion.
-
Our bodies are sacred. We listen to them, nourish them, and move them with love.
-
Joy is medicine. We dance, laugh, and savor—because celebration is survival.
-
Our stories matter. We speak, write, and share our truths, knowing our voices shape the world.
-
Community is power. We lift as we climb, supporting each other in healing and growth.
-
Wellness is for everyone. We center women pushed to the margins—holding space for every woman, every story.
We rest not just for ourselves, but for those who came before us, and those yet to come.
We choose softness where the world demands hardness, and we make rest a revolutionary act.
This is the Brown Girl Wellness Joy Collective.
We rest. We rise. We resist.
