Our Team
Dr. D. Rica Wilson
Founder/Executive Director
Dr. D. Rica Wilson is an advocate for human rights and education. Wilson graduated from St. Augustine’s University in Raleigh, North Carolina with a Bachelor's degree in English. She has a Master's Degree in English, with an emphasis in teaching English as a Second Language, from Indiana University of Pennsylvania. She holds a doctorate in Pastoral Counseling and a certificate in Complementary and Alternative Medicine. As a licensed minister and law student, she blends compassion and cultural competence to seek justice for voiceless and vulnerable individuals. She enjoys cooking, traveling and spending time with family and friends. Wilson is a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated.
LaQundra Mighty
Director of Human Resources/Executive Assistant
LaQundra Mighty joined Brown Girl Wellness, Inc. as an intern and over the years has assumed a variety of responsibilities in response to the needs of the organization. She is the Executive Assistant to the Executive Director, and most recently, expanded her work to include Director of Human Resources.
She also functions as office manager and is responsible for staffing all of the organization volunteers. She plays a vital role in helping the organization meet the needs of diverse communities. Before joining Brown Girl Wellness, Incorporated, the Clark Atlanta graduate was a Case Manager for Abbott House, a Teacher at KinderCare, and a Standardized Test Scorer for Pearson Learning Solutions. She is currently pursuing her MBA.
Dr. T. Joi Preston
Director of Education
Dr. Preston’s career in education has been committed to working with the families and with children who speak English as a second language. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in Elementary Education and a Master of Education from St. Augustine’s University and Columbia College. She holds certification in ESOL and Educational Leadership. Dr. Preston earned her EdS in administration from Argosy University, and she holds a doctorate in Christian Education.
In addition to her teaching experience, Dr. Preston has been an elementary school teacher, director of curriculum and instruction, an assessment specialist and a consultant for non-profit organizations for over a decade. Her goal is to promote and guide best practices in student and adult learning. In her spare time she enjoys traveling and spending time with family and friends. She is a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated.
